Joey Luthman Talks About Why He Loves Acting

THIS is part of an interview with Joey Luthman in Ohio. He was visiting with friends from Hometown Productions where he was first given a chance to really act, as Winthrop in Music Man. Director and Founder of Hometown Productions, Leslie Jo Hood, graciously asked Joey back as a Celebrity Guest at the New Jersey Presbyterian Church in Franklin, Ohio,
A Movie Night where they were playing "iQuit iCarly".
"Working with Dan Schneider, creator of "iCarly", was such an honor. He is amazing. And Fleck, Davin Wilson, was so funny and great to work with. The cast of "iCarly" is the best cast. They were all so nice to me and treated me like I was a regular, too. I hope that I get to work with them again sometime.

Recently a reporter asked me why I like acting. There are many reasons, but I tried to focus on the most important ones to me. When I can learn about other people and how their lives are different than mine, then I think I am a better person. I really try to "be" that person. It is hard sometimes, but I learn a lot about life. I am lucky to have great parents and a supportive family, all 6 of my siblings are performers also.
The other day I was given an audition for a really challenging role. It was a boy who had been abused and even "sold" like property. He was my age, 13 1/2. At first when I read the script, I did not really understand what the boy was going through. I did not even realize that such horrible things could happen to kids. I did not know. So, when I learned what was really happening and how horrible it was, I just wanted to cry for anyone who would be treated this way. I think maybe as an actor, if I can help to show other kids like me that these things exist, then maybe I can help save a kid from being abducted or running away and being trapped with these horrible people.
Lots of roles are fun and happy ones and they are easy for me. But, I like playing all kinds of kids and learning about life.
I did get to be in a B-17 for one movie "Flyboy", recently submitted to Sundance. No, I did not get to 'fly' the B-17, but it was in flying condition. It was in Palm Springs, CA. Wow, that was an awesome time for me!! I was the hero, so I got to sit up it the cockpit and everything. Amazing! It is a huge airplane! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mad-Dog-and-the-Flyboy/126180654091847
One time I was a in a biker gang as the son of Abraham Benrubi
My scenes were with Donal Logue
It was Called 1%.
And there are many other cool things about being an actor, like working with
Mary-Louise Parker and
Jennifer Love Hewitt
