The ENFJ in Joey Luthman

Joey Luthman, an actor and performer in LA
Joey walking on his hands over The Grand Canyon

Recently I had Joey take the Myers-Briggs personality test, which is a famous personality test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers from research done by psychologist Carl Jung. The test is interesting because the results usually give strikingly reliable results.
Joey scored as an ENFJ, which means that he is an extrovert whose primary function is a sense of extraverted emotion with a secondary function of introverted intuition. In other words, an ENFJ has an incredible ability to understand and relate to people. They have incredible charisma and have a strong work ethic, usually taking on one task at a time and completing it to perfection. ENFJs are good at making other people feel welcome and this in turn makes them a natural salesman. They have a knack for winning friends, bringing people together, and are generally non-confrontational. But if necessary, they are good at sticking up for themselves or their friends or family if a threatening force is present.

More information about the ENFJ can be found at: http://www.personalitypage.com/html/ENFJ.html

As Joey’s brother, it’s easy and fun to see these qualities develop in Joey. We all knew he was an extrovert from the moment he was born—he was always very vocal. But, at fourteen, it’s easy to see Joey’s charisma. Not only is he a natural actor but he is also a natural friend. He makes friends quickly and easily. And he always tends to see the best in new people or new situations.

Another note worthy fact is that our other Actor brother, Jonathan Shine, is ALSO an ENFJ. Of course any two people of the same “type” are different. There is only so much a test can measure. But it interesting to see that there are many similarities between them. And if you get the two of them in a room together, all they need is a tape recorder that can play back in slow motion for them to have hours of fun. Both Jonathan and Joey have an easy time speaking their minds. Joey is never discouraged if he is cut off in conversation, always picking up where he left off. He seems to have an innate understanding that the art of conversation is chaotic and he is not wronged if he is interrupted while saying something important. But by God, he finds a way to say it. Jonathan was the king of talking when we were growing up, before Joey was born. Both Joey and Jonathan, with their intuitive properties, are very in-tune with who they are and what they want.

Here are a few famous people expected to also share the ENFJ personality type (according to typelogic.com):
Ronald Regan
Michael Jordan
Ben Stiller
Ben Affleck
John Cusack
Peyton Manning
